The State Bank of India (SBI) has supplied the data on electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, EC has confirmed.

“In compliance of Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directions to the SBI, contained in its order dated Feb 15 & March 11, 2024 (in the matter of WPC NO.880 of 2017), data on electoral bonds has been supplied by State Bank of India to Election Commission of India, today, March 12, 2024,” EC said in a post on X.

The Supreme Court had on Monday directed the bank to disclose the details of electoral bonds received by the political parties by closing day today after it rejected the bank’s plea for extension of time to disclose the same. SBI has asked the SC to grant it till 30th June 2024 to collect the details citing that they are stored in two silos and would be time consuming.

After the stern warning from the apex court, SBI delivered the same today. The Supreme Court had earlier ordered the largest bank in India to submit all details by 6th March 2024 after it declared electoral bonds as ‘unconstitutional’.

The Court has also directed the Election Commission to publish the details on its website.
