State College of Teachers Education, Kohima (SCTE) celebrated its Golden Jubilee (1975-2025) under the theme ‘Empowering Teachers, Enriching lives’ at Capital Convention Centre on November 7.
Principal, Mokokchung College of Teachers Education, Dr T Alemla Longkumer greeted and extended her appreciation to all who have contributed towards the Jubilee.
In her address she said that education is a vehicle of change and the teachers are the main agents of the change. She further emphasised that self-empowerment is a crucial part in a teachers life to meet the challenges of the changes and to respond to the unprecedented changes of the modern times.
She expressed that they have observed the change from computer assisted learning to computer based learning to AI based learning and the impact this change has made is unprecedented and stated that in a few years time, lots of profession will be out of demand and in that context, teachers will also have to change and keep updating with the technologies.
Principal Fazl Ali College, Dr I Wati Imchen, in his speech said that completing fifty years of dedicated service to the noble cause of education is indeed a remarkable achievement and that this Jubilee marks not only the passage of time, but also the enduring legacy of an institution that has been at the heart of teacher education and educational development in our state.

He mentioned that for five decades, the State College of Teacher Education has stood as a pillar of academic excellence and professional formation, preparing generations of teachers who have, in turn, shaped the moral and intellectual character of our schools and communities. The institution’s role in teacher training, curriculum design, and pedagogical innovation has made an invaluable contribution to the progress of education in Nagaland. He also congratulated the entire SCTE family for their enduring dedication, sacrifice and excellence.
Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education Department, V Lovitoly Sema, NCS mentioned that 50 years is not just a measure of time but it is a testament of truth, resilience and commitment to the cause of education in our state. She also highlighted on the journey of the SCTE expanding in academic scopes. She said that through this five decades of dedicated service the college has produced a generation of teachers who has carried its values to every corners of that sate bringing light and knowledge to the countless learners.
She added that teachers are the torch bearers of change and empowering teachers is investing in moral and intellectual wealth of our society. She further highlighted that with the advent of NEP 2020, the college will play a crucial role in imparting holistic education transforming this vision into reality.
Earlier, Sarita Yadav, IAS Secretary, Higher & Technical Education virtually unveiled the Golden Jubilee Monolith and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Prof N Venuh released the Jubilee Souvenir and Memento.
