The Sechü Zubza Football Club (SZFC) unveiled its official kit for the upcoming Nagaland Super League (NSL) 2025 during a ceremony held on Sunday at Spicer Hall, Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechü Zubza.
Kovi Meyase, Secretary of Excise and Prohibition, attended the event as the special guest. In his address, Meyase emphasized that sports have evolved into a powerful industry, influencing advertisement, the economy, and culture. He highlighted football’s global appeal, describing it as a fusion of business and passion, and pointed out that some of the wealthiest football clubs now operate like multinational corporations.
Meyase praised the NSL as a milestone for professional football in Nagaland, marking the State’s foray into organized leagues. While acknowledging that the league is still in its early stages compared to other states, he called it a significant step forward for Nagaland’s sports sector. He commended SZFC for being among the seven participating clubs and thanked sponsors for their essential role in sustaining the league and its teams. Meyase encouraged SZFC to aspire to higher leagues and expressed optimism about the club’s future, urging players and supporters to remain steadfast in their faith and dedication.
Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) President, Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, lauded SZFC’s resilience and passion despite challenges. He acknowledged the difficulties of managing a football club and stressed the importance of discipline, hard work, and perseverance for success. Yhome urged players to maximize their talents and remain committed to the team, emphasizing that hard work yields significant rewards.
During the event, SZFC CEO for NSL, Viketouzo Meyase, shared the club’s journey, while Chief Finance Officer Neidilhoutuo Neibu Sechü introduced the team’s official sponsors and partners before unveiling the kit. The club also introduced its squad for NSL 2025, with Petevi Meyase and others presenting the players.
The ceremony included the release of the club’s theme song by Kevisekuo Sechü, Assistant Professor at Margaret Shishak School of Music, Patkai Christian College. Singer Mengu Suokhrie performed a special number, and the event was hosted by Vichürielie Sechü and Asenuo Medoze. Javitso Lhousa, Executive Secretary of WABCC, offered a prayer for the team.
