The Sedekevi Pele (No.17) of Kohima Village penalty shoot out in aid of its Silver Jubilee 2025 began today at D.Khel Ground, Kohima. 21 teams will be participating in the tournament.
Special Guest Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome, President of Kohima District Football Association spoke on the importance of maintaining good health and a balanced diet. He advised players to steer clear of alcohol and tobacco, warning against negative lifestyle habits like excessive partying and drinking. Yhome encouraged youths to engage in positive activities for a good cause, urging them to work hard collectively towards achieving success. He expressed hope for the continuation of such events to keep the youth focused on making healthy choices.
The importance of discipline as a key factor in achieving success was highlighted by the Special Guest. Further the need to show respect towards elders and uphold the traditions passed down by our ancestors was also emphasised. Yhome urged the players to respect every tournament, regardless of its size or location. Stressing on the need to approach every game with dedication and not dismiss anything as mere “Timepass”, the Special Guest appealed players to giving their full effort and being punctual in all endeavors. Yhome also encouraged mutual forgiveness and reconciliation as they approached their Jubilee, underscoring the significance of resolving misunderstandings before the celebration.

Menuosetuo Yiese , President of Sedekevi Peli stated that the Peli was first established in the year 2000. Back then they started with 13 members who would go to field and do manual works for fundings to sustain the Peli. After 24 years, the Peli now have 55 member, which Yiese attributed to God’s grace.
Kezhakietuo Belho, Khedi Baptist Church Pastor blessed the program with invocation while the program was earlier chaired by Rüguongulie Sachü.
Kevilhouvonuo Khezhie graced her presence by presenting a special number while Kelhousekuo Khezhie pronounced the vote of thanks.
