Governor of Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday said that the youth of Nagaland should take up entrepreneurship and create jobs. Self-employment and giving employment to others, he added, is the way of development.
The Governor was speaking at the inaugural function of the National Integrate Innovate Expand (NIIE) Trade Fair organised by the Business Association of Nagas and supported by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.
Prof Mukhi further said the central and state governments and also the Ministry of MSME have introduced many schemes and initiatives to help young entrepreneurs develop their businesses.
He said the MSME sector has emerged as an important and dynamic sector of the Indian economy playing a crucial role in providing large employment opportunities. The sector also ensures more equitable distribution of national income and wealth.
While congratulating the organisers, Mukhi said that trade fairs like this help to showcase the vibrancy of the MSME sector, assuring that the Government of Nagaland will continue to support such events organized by local industry organizations.

The Trade Fair is being held at Agri Expo Centre, 4th Mile, Dimapur under the theme, Integrate, Expand. Altogether, 137 stalls from various parts of the country including Manipur, Assam, Delhi, etc., have been set up.
Joint Director, MSME-DFO Dimapur, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India, Taliwati Longchar, in his welcome address stated that the MSME sector often faces problems in exploring new markets and retaining the existing ones due to the lack of information, scarcity of resources and un-organized way of selling/marketing.
Keeping in view of these facts, the procurement and marketing support scheme has been introduced by Ministry of MSME to enhance the marketability of products & services in the MSME sector, Longchar added.
He highlighted that the objective of the NIIE Trade Fair was to promote local products and services and create market linkage by engaging both Buyers & Sellers. He said exhibition is for the national level and that participants will be invited from all over India including the North-East Region. People from public sector units and Government department will also be invited, he added.
Earlier, Governor of Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi, launched the website of MSME-Development & Facilitation Office.
The Programme was chaired by Dr Yan Murry, General Secretary, Business Association of Naga’s. Students of Hope Academy sang the National Anthem. North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur presented a traditional Lotha Folk Dance and the vote of thanks was delivered by Trade Fair Convenor, Benthungo Kithan.
The National Integrate Innovate Expand (NIIE) Trade Fair will end on 5 November.
