Weshen Theological College Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with District Administration, Sakhi One Stop Centre and DHEW, Tuensang conducted a one-day seminar on the theme “Health and Hygiene” on 10th November 2023 at Weshen Theological College, Tuensang.
Resource person Dr Kemhieneinuo Linyü, Junior Specialist, MD, District Hospital, Tuensang spoke on the common diseases affecting women’s health. As per Nagaland health reports 2022, the leading cause of death in women were stroke, heart disease and chronic lung disease, she said while mentioning that risk prevention measures such as adequate control of diabetes and hypertension are key in preventing complications.

Dr Linyü also shared on menstrual health and hygiene, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, Osteoporosis, thyroid disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and Post Menopausal Syndrome (PMS). She also noted on the importance of regular antenatal health checkup and institutional delivery sets the foundation for a healthy body in addition to preventing maternal deaths due to birth complications.
The resource person in Session II of the seminar was Chulongla, Centre Administrator, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Tuensang who spoke on “Shattering Silence, Ending Domestic Violence”.
The program was chaired by P Herola, case worker Sakhi OSC, Tuensang, welcome note and innovation was pronounced by Anamong, Principal of Weshen Theological College.
The seminar was followed by installation of sanitary napkin dispensing box at the girls’ hostel, Weshen Theological College. The closing prayer was pronounced by Nimang, Lecturer at WTC and Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club.
