The second phase of seminar on “Quality education in Chakhesang areas” organised by the Chakhesang Scholars’ Forum (CSF) in collaboration with Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) was held at Red Cross Building, Kohima on November 16, Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Zavise Rume, Chairman CSF noted the major problems and hindrances of quality education in Chakhesang areas includes lack of moral will, unprofessional teachers, and students not studying enough.
Towards addressing these problems, he suggested for improvement of teachers and students to improve quality education in Chakhesang areas. Unless teachers and students are improved, we cannot sustain quality education in our locality, he said.
He further suggested that teachers be allowed to teach in school without any other engagement with other responsibility or position outside the school teaching.
Among many other suggestions, the chairman pointed out one must do away with illegal practice of proxy teachers, organising regular interactions with teachers and students, promoting indigenous knowledge, sports integration, implementing Communitisation of education in letter and spirit etc.
Vezuhu Keyho, CPO President reiterated that during its general session 2022, CPO resolved to give emphasis on quality education in the elementary section in Chakhesang areas. Accordingly, it entrusted the CSF to carry out the seminars to gauge views and opinions from researchers and educators.
He is hopeful that the seminars will help in serving the purpose and bring about methodology and strategy required for delivering quality education to the children in the Chakhesang areas.
