The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tseminyu, in collaboration with Mission Shakti and ICDS Tseminyu jointly organized a one-day sensitization program focused on the rights of children of sex workers and marginalized communities.
Chairperson Ajano Ezung, Protection Officer (NIC),Tseminyu, opened the program with a warm welcome. District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Tseminyu, Janet P. Swu expressed gratitude to all participants, especially the resource persons, acknowledging their crucial role in the initiative.
LCPO, Tseminyu, Neivotuonuo Rutsa led an insightful session on Rights of the Children of Sex Workers and Children from Marginalized Communities. Discussions covered constitutional rights, legal provisions, and challenges in implementation due to societal biases.
Sunjib Rana, Retainer Lawyer at DLSA Kohima, provided an overview of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, stressing the role of law enforcement in child protection. He explained the Special Juvenile Police Unit’s (SJPU) function and the legal mechanisms safeguarding children’s welfare.

Phatisen Kath, Supervisor of the Child Helpline at DCPU Tseminyu, discussed the 24/7 Child Helpline Services, outlining procedures for reporting abuse and ensuring confidentiality.
Jetilo Apon, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tseminyu, Chairman elaborated on the role of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in rehabilitation and care, stressing collaboration with law enforcement, NGOs, and community organizations.
Victoria Kent, District Coordinator, DHEW Tseminyu, presented on Mission Shakti, highlighting government schemes such as PMMVY and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. She highlighted the significance of accessible welfare services for marginalized communities.
