Session on application of AI in Govt Deptts held at Kohima Lok Bhavan

A session on the importance and application of Artificial Intelligence in government departments was conducted at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima on April 8.

The programme was organised as part of SADHANA (Strengthening Adaptive Development and Humane Aptitude for National Advancement) Saptah, observed under Mission Karmayogi, in line with the directives of the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.

Officials from the Directorate of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Nagaland,  Er Daniel Krocha, Deputy Director and Er Akumla Aier, Senior Programme Officer, conducted the session and highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing efficiency, transparency and service delivery in government functioning.

Deputy Director, IT&C, Er Daniel Krocha, emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not intended to replace human beings but to augment human capabilities. Speaking on the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he highlighted that Nagaland’s young population has a unique strength, presenting an unprecedented opportunity to shape technological advancement in alignment with the nation’s needs.

He stated that AI has the potential to bridge long-standing gaps across sectors, provided it is leveraged responsibly. Stressing the importance of human oversight, he underscored that AI must assist decision-making processes rather than replace human judgment.

Er Krocha further remarked that with the right approach and strategic steps, Nagaland has the potential to emerge as a model for effective and ethical adoption of AI in the country.

Senior Programme Officer, Er Akumla Aier, in her presentation, highlighted several key aspects of Artificial Intelligence. She described Generative AI as a game changer, underscoring its transformative potential across domains. The session also focused on building a foundational understanding of AI, its role in enhancing public service delivery, and its sector-specific applications.

Further, she outlined the current AI landscape in Nagaland and emphasized the importance of Ethical AI practices along with robust governance guidelines to ensure responsible and inclusive deployment.

Officers and staff of the Governor’s Secretariat, along with personnel from the Household Establishment of Lok Bhavan, attended the session.

The programme aimed to build awareness and capacity among officials on emerging technologies and their practical applications in governance.

Earlier, welcome address was said by Under Secretary to Governor, Kevingozo Visa and vote of thanks was delivered by Section Officer, Jochule.
