The Union Home Minister Amit Shah have assured the Nagaland state government that tripartite talks will be held prior to the finalising of the draft for the proposed Frontier Naga Territory (FNT).
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio accompanied by his ten cabinets, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Phangnon Konyak met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday at New Delhi to discuss on the proposed Frontier Naga Territory and Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Sources privy to the meeting informed Nagaland Tribune that the meeting with Home Minister Shah was positive and assured the delegation that prior to any finalisation of the proposed FNT a tripartite talk between the GoI, Nagaland state government and Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) will be held.
On Tuesday, Interlocutor AK Mishra too had assured the Nagaland delegation led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio that the State Government would be consulted before any final decision on the FNT.

During the meeting with Shah, the pressing issue of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was also deliberated, and the Union Home Minister assured that not only tribals, but the entire Christian community will also not be affected if UCC is implemented, the source added.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, which is headed by CM Rio and ally of the BJP, had earlier announced its opposition of the UCC and stated that the “unwise” implementation of the law would create “sentimental and emotional divide which will not be good for national integration.”
