Since being established in 2004 and attaining recognition in 2012, Nutsu village in Shamator district got its first Morung (Atan Qiu) and Log Drum on 21st February 2024.
The dedication program was graced by P Timong, President, Tikhir Tribal Council, as the Special Guest who in his address, maintained that it is the duty of every village authority to maintain a Morung and Log Drum which is the unique identity of Tikhir tribe and the educational hub enshrined since the ancestral period.
Tikhir is a unique tribe with its distinct culture and tradition practiced by every tribesman of Tikhir villages. According to the traditions, as new villages are established due to the expansion of khels, Morungs are constructed and new Log Drums are maintained in each Morung.

On the momentous occasion, short speeches were also delivered by Y Pongkiu, Village Council Chaiman, Anatongre; K Kiusthong, President, TAGBA; LY Tokim, President, Kiusam Area GB’s Union (KAGBU); Temong Y Tikhir, President, Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU); S Pentsu, VCC, Nutsu. All the speakers stressed on the importance of maintaining the rich culture of the tribe and upgolding peace and unity among the tribe and with others as well.
