In an unfortunate incident, the NSCN-K (Khango) Ceasefire office in Thilixu village was allegedly attacked by Isak Sumi, who was impeached as the general secretary of the group, and his cadres on Saturday morning around 8 am.
Sources informed that Sumi came with 10 to 12 men near the ceasefire office gate and told the Khango cadres to open the gate. When they refused and told him to go back including some villagers who came and tried to stop him, Sumi and his men started firing.
9 to 10 magazines were fired, as per the source. The police also reached the spot and an investigation is underway.
No casualties have been reported from this incident.
Mention may be made that Sumi was impeached by Khango Konyak on 5 January this year as per party discipline.
Sumi was found guilty of ‘absolute control of power and functions without collective leadership, non-distribution of power and functions, exposing a one-man-government policy, which is completely in violation of the Party Yehzabo (Constitution) and discipline’.
