A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the murder of Abdul Kayum Talukdar, Goan Bura of New Market, Dimapur, on the night of 7th June 2024. The SIT will be headed by ACP, Dimapur, it has been informed.
In a shocking incident, at around 9:30 pm, unidentified miscreants reportedly arrived in a car and shot Talukdar (60) near an ATM booth in Signal Bosti, Shaam Bazaar area, Dimapur. The GB was reportedly shot from a close range. He later succumbed to the bullet injuries on the chest.
Sources informed that the body of late Talkudar had been handed over to his family and that the mortal remains would be taken to Karimganj, Assam.
No arrest has been made so far.
On Saturday, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Yanthungo Patton condemned the “tragic assassination” and urged the authorities to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“This heinous act of violence, which took the life of Mr. Talukdar, is an attack on peace and security in our society,” he stated.
