A sit in protest by the Press fraternity of Manipur under the aegis of All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU), Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) and Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU) is underway at Keishampat area in Imphal West. A large number of journalists are said to be taking part in the protest.

The protest is being held after the Press Fraternity of Manipur received threats from militant groups.

The Manipur Press on 11 October halted their daily work and stopped publication of newspapers and airing of news in the local channel.

The ongoing sit in protest will continue till 3pm today followed by a meeting at Press Club which will be attended by the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

A decision is said to be taken after the meeting.
