In response to the mysterious death of a 22-year-old woman in Kohima, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the suspected murder. The body was discovered on October 25 at Old Ministers’ Hill Colony.
The eight-member SIT, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Soriso, was established due to the case’s sensitive and complex nature and significant public concern. Kohima Police have pledged to use all available resources to ensure justice.
The victim, originally from Jakhama village, was residing in the colony at the time. While foul play is suspected, police are awaiting official post-mortem and forensic reports to confirm the cause of death.
The police also urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information and to come forward with any relevant details.
Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO)
Meanwhile, the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) has urgently appealed to the government and the Superintendent of Police, Kohima to take immediate and uncompromising action regarding the brutal murder of the 22 year old.
Expressing solidarity with the grieving family, the SAPO demanded a comprehensive, transparent, and expeditious investigation to guarantee that the perpetrators are swiftly identified and brought to book.
“We insist that those responsible be promptly apprehended and vigorously prosecuted under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 302 (Murder). We call upon the authorities to leave no stone unturned in their relentless pursuit of justice, ensuring that the full weight of the law is meted out to the culprits.
Furthermore, we trust that the police department will conduct a meticulous and thorough investigation, ensuring no detail is overlooked. Such diligence will ensure the case is comprehensively understood by the judiciary, supported by irrefutable evidence, and result in a just conviction,” stated the Organisation.
It also reminded that the tragic incident has underscored the urgent necessity to reinforce security measures and uphold the rule of law. Reiterating its full cooperation and coordination throughout the arrest and investigation process, the SAPO pledged support to facilitate a prompt, comprehensive, and fair resolution. It further urged all law-abiding citizens to diligently report any suspicious persons or activities to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
Demanding that the accused be prosecuted to the highest permissible extent under the law, SAPO stated, “Such stringent punitive measures are essential to uphold societal order, deter future violations, and deliver justice to the victims and their families.”
The organisation expressed confidence in the police department, in collaboration with specialized units such as the crime branch, forensic experts, medical investigators, and cybercrime division, in solving the case and deliver justice to its community.

Western Angami Public Organisation
The Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) has expressed grief over the gruesome murder of the “vibrant young woman who was pursuing a bright career, bringing laurels in the field of both sports and academics to the family and to the society”.
It urged the state government and law enforcement authorities to expedite investigations and deliver justice swiftly and in full measure. “The right to life is an inherent and inviolable right and we must not rest until the perpetrator (s) are prosecuted with the harshest extent of the law,” stated WAPO.
The Organization also appealed the public and civil organizations for a unified stand against such atrocity, for justice and for the assurance ofa safer tomorrow. It further affirmed solidarity with the bereaved family and extended full support in their difficult time.
Association of Kohima Municipal Ward and Council
Condemning the murder and extending solidarity, the Association of Kohima Municipal Ward and Council ( AKMWC) has urged the law enforcing agencies to promptly investigate without any delay and to take stern action against the accused.
The AKMWC further appealed to all concern citizens to extend all possible support and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families.
“Let us all unite our hearts in prayers for her families at this hard times of pain and grief,” it expressed.
