A week-long skill training programme on Banana Fibre Extraction & Handicraft Product Development began on 8th March 2024 at the Community Hall in Bhandari. The programme is being organized by the Shishoi Oshom-ETF Cell, Wokha, and Phiren Farmers Producer Company Limited, Bhandari, in collaboration with the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur.
A total of 53 farmers from Phiren Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) are participating in the training program.
In the training programme, participants will receive comprehensive training encompassing practical and theoretical aspects of banana fibre extraction and handicraft product development.
Verification of PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries
Meanwhile in Wokha town, the stage one verification process for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries began in Wokha for Urban Local Bodies’ (ULB) applications were conducted on 8th March 2024 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha. The verifications were done under the supervision of K. Furhesie Nyuwi, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Administrator of Wokha Town Council, who diligently verified 210 beneficiaries under ULB Wokha.
Beneficiaries were promptly notified about the commencement of stage one verification via WhatsApp through the Wokha SAATHI chatbot. They were individually contacted and requested to present all requisite documents for verification.
Special Registration Drive for PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana Held in Wokha
Also on 8th March, a Special Registration Drive for PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was organized at the India Post Office in Wokha. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with Shishoi Oshom-ETF, Cell Wokha, with the aim of promoting access to free electricity for households.
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a government scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2024, seeks to provide free electricity to households across India. Under this scheme, households are eligible to receive a subsidy for the installation of solar panels on their rooftops, covering up to 40% of the installation cost. It is estimated that the scheme will benefit approximately 1 crore households nationwide and result in significant annual savings of Rs. 75,000 crore in electricity costs.
The registration drive witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 179 beneficiaries, reflecting the community’s keen interest in availing the benefits of this transformative scheme.
