Mokokchung based social activist Bendang Imsong has written an Open Letter to the Principal Director, Department of School Education, Nagaland, highlighting the non-release of salaries for NSSB 2022 batch selected appointees in the School Education Department.
Imsong pointed out that dedicated teachers, who were appointed following a rigorous selection process, have not received their salaries since their appointment from the month of August 2023, despite having received posting orders on 22nd November 2023. The delay in salary has caused significant financial distress, affecting their ability to meet basic living expenses, he said.
The social activist also questioned the financial planning and accountability within the department as it filled the vacant posts without securing the necessary budget for salaries.
Imsong mentioned that the financial hardship caused by the delay is leading to immense mental and emotional distress among these teachers and urged the Department to release the pending salaries at the earliest, along with interest for the delay.
He further asked the department to clarify how vacancies were advertised and appointments made without securing the necessary budget for salaries.
Further, the social activist urged the Department of School Education to take immediate and concrete steps to ensure that such delays do not occur in the future.
