Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that the Indo-Naga problem is one that needs resolution but it is lacking “conversation, listening to each other and working in implementing a solution”. Talking to media persons at Chiephobozou in Kohima district in Nagaland, he expressed that it is not clear what the Prime Minister envisioned in terms of a solution and called the Framework Agreement a “superficial document”.

Gandhi also mentioned that the Naga leaders he has so far met in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra are “perplexed” as to why no progress has been made even after nine years of signing the agreement between the Government of India and NSCN-IM.

Taking a dig at the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi said that PM Modi makes promises without thinking them through and that people are disturbed because the Prime Minister’s credibility is on the line.

Later in Wokha Town, addressing the masses from atop the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra bus, he remarked that it is a “tragedy” that for nine years there has only been empty words and the GoI has not done anything to resolve the issues in Nagaland.

“I think it is a shame that the Prime Minister of India did not visit Manipur when there was tremendous violence and also that he made a commitment to the people of Nagaland that he has not uphold,” Rahul Gandhi said. He added that these do not reflect well on the image of a PM because when a PM of the country says something he should deliver it.

PM Modi has failed the people of Nagaland, Gandhi stated.
