Superintendent of Police Kiphire K Swarnambika, IPS has emphasised the role of police in the fight against drugs, stating that the personnel must lead exemplary lifestyle. She was addressing the personnel on Monday on the International Day Against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking 2023 on the theme Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention at SP office Kiphire.

Swarnambika said that being responsible for law and order, the police cannot be involved in drug/substance abuse or its trade. She also stressed that spreading awareness of drug abuse is very essential and it is the duty of the police to educate the general public and disseminate knowledge about the dangers of it.
Additional SP Kiphire Lanu Aier as well exhorted the police personnel to maintain distance from drug abuse as it not only destroys one’s life but risks the life of their families as well.
Lanu advised the personnel to be aware of the consequences at the same time be good messengers to public on these kinds of important issues relating to drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
As part of an awareness campaign on the occasion of International Day Against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking, police personnels along with SP and Addl SP marched with placards from Police headquarter all way round the main town to Amahator Road Junction, Kiphire Town.
