A special Gram Sabha was held at Lihtsaoung village in Kiphire district as part of Independence Day celebration. The day started with the National Anthem and a pledge led by Tiaba Sangtam, Chairman Lihtsaoung Village Council. The program was attended by all villagers led by Village Chief, Council Members, and members from various village level Departmental committees.

Led by the Chairman Lihtsaoung Village Council, Council Secretary and VDB Secretary, the major topics covered in the meeting were discussion on Initiatives taken and problems. The following Local Self Development Goals (LSDGs) themes were also discussed: Poverty free and enhanced livelihood village, Healthy village, Child friendly village, Water Sufficient village, Clean & Green Village, Village with self-sufficient infrastructure and Socially Secured & Socially just Village.

The Gram Sabha was facilitated by Piramal Foundation (Aspirational District Collaborative) Kiphire which is to be a stepping stone to equip Gram Panchayats/Village Councils for the upcoming agenda-based Gram Sabha planned and the way forward.
