The Field Office of Spices Board, Kohima under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India organized a regional seminar on large cardamom, king chilli and ginger at Thipuzu Village, Phek District on December 11.
The technical sessions covered nursery management of large cardamom, plantation establishment, pests and disease management of large cardamom, king chilli and ginger.
These were delivered by David.Ng, Officer-in-charge, Spices Board, Kohima.
Ariba Anar, State Coordinator NERAMAC, a CPSE under the Ministry for Development of North-Eastern Region (MDoNER) spoke on the post harvest Management aspects and marketing of these spices.
A total of 85 progressive growers from the village attended the seminar.
Another Market Linkage Programme on large cardamom and king chilli(Naga Mircha- a GI-tagged crop) was organized at Chozuba Town, Phek District on December 12.

David Ng highlighted the activities and programs of Spices Board and explained on the export trends and export potential of spices from the region. Ariba Anar spoke on the proper techniques of drying, packaging and grading to meet domestic and international demands.
He also stressed on the market interventions including sourcing of spices, procurement, retail marketing to encourage entrepreneurs as a means to promote and utilize local produce.
A total of 37 members from Sekrunuzu Organic Spices and Agro Producer Co Ltd, local food processor, spice dealers and progressive farmers attended the programme.
