Season Star (SSR) Ungma, one of the oldest youth organizations in Ungma village, continued its long-standing effort to encourage excellence by organizing the 58th Ungma Academic Excellence & Achievers Award Programme 2025 on December 20 at Yimtsungta Arok Sapang, Ungma.
Established in 1967 with ten members and guided by the motto “For the greater glory of the youth,” SSR Ungma has been involved in various social and community-based initiatives. Among these, the Academic Excellence & Achievers Award Programme remains a key platform aimed at motivating the village youth to pursue consistent effort and higher standards.
As part of this year’s programme, 18 individuals from Ungma village were felicitated for accomplishments across academic, professional, and national-level fields. The honourees included PhD scholars, UPSC and NPSC selectees, university rank holders, HSSLC and HSLC toppers, along with recipients of national and state-level awards.
The awardees were Guru Limayanger Jamir, Toshinenla T Longkumer, Dr. Imsubenla T Jamir, Dr. Imsurenla T Jamir, Lanuienla Longkumer, Shipongngangla, Rogomen Longkumer, Imnamayu Jamir, Limayangla Jamir, Limsuwa Jamir, Wangshizenla, Lemsemchila, Lendirenla Jamir, Imliyanger Jamir, Apen Tanujang, Imnainla Jamir, Mesenipong Pongen, and Lenen Jamir.

The programme was attended by L. Chubaonen, Director of the Department of Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland, as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, he acknowledged SSR Ungma for maintaining an initiative focused on youth encouragement and highlighted discipline and sustained effort as key factors behind the achievements recognised.
He further spoke on the difference between comfort and challenge in life, cautioning that staying within one’s comfort zone can limit progress. Referring to well-known personalities who faced repeated setbacks before succeeding, he noted that comfort, while initially appealing, may hinder long-term growth.
