The annual games and sports of St. Luke School, Longmatra was held at Public Ground, Longmatra, Kiphire on May 3 and 4.
According to DIPR, EAC Longmatra, Takatemjen Pongen graced the occasion as the special guest.
In his speech, Pongen said that sports is not only to showcase physical prowess, but also to celebrate teamwork, dedication and the spirit of healthy competition. He added that sports is not just about winning medals or scoring points, but it is the spirit in which one completes that truly matters. The Administrator also called on the gathering to embrace the spirit of sport day: to cheer, support and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Quoting Nelson Mandela’s “Sports has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does”, Pongen asked the students to remember the transformative power of sports. He further emphasised that sports is also about the bonds forged, the lessons learned and the memories created.
The programme was attended by Vice Principal, LHSS, Rev. Father Marius Patton, Village Council members, Dobashis, Gaon buras, parents and well-wishers.
