St Xavier College Jalukie has taken up an initiative to sensitize voters on the electoral process, ahead of Monday’s Polling Day in Nagaland.

The sensitization message creates awareness on making the right choice, the choice of freedom over evil and prioritising the value of human life above all.

Following is the message from St Xavier College Jalukie:

Your Future Needs Your Right Choice – Xavierite Voice

The Biblical story has a contextual relevance in the eve of election. It narrates that Jesus came to the village and was met by a man possessed by demons. Later, the man was healed and the demons were sent to the herd of pigs. Resultantly, pigs rushed down the steep bank and into the waters to be dead. The man and his dear ones gained but it was a great loss for the pigs’ owners! The people in the city asked Jesus to leave the place for fear of more such healings and losses. The behaviour meant a choice between the healer and the impact. They didn’t want to lose anymore pigs even if it meant healing of their own people who are sick and suffering for years.

The election is a process of making a choice; a choice over ‘freedom from evil; to make a choice for development or to continue with backwardness and the evil-bound living conditions. This choice is not far from the citizens to use the power to choose the right leader even if it meant momentary loss for lasting gains. Biblical story is a reminder to prioritise the value of human life over pigs, life over cash, facts over gossips, action over promise, reason over excuses…

The ardent prayer is that all may use ‘wisdom of God’ over the devilish promises. May Nagaland be blessed with a progressive future through the right choice of the voters!
