An informative workshop focusing on Goods and Services Tax (GST) took place at Hotel Ura in Kohima, a DIPR report said. This collaborative initiative was made possible through the efforts of StartUp Nagaland (Dept. of Industries & Commerce), Indirect Taxes and Customs, Government of India, CA R. Abraham & Associates, and NAGABOTS Incubation Centre.
Er. Keneirienuo K Theünuo, Deputy Director & StartUp Nagaland Team Leader, commenced the workshop with an introductory note. She emphasized that this workshop was organized in direct response to the numerous inquiries and requests from entrepreneurs based in Kohima, who sought to gain a better understanding of the complexities of GST.
DIPR also mentioned that the workshop featured knowledgeable resource persons who addressed a wide range of topics. Notable speakers included Sashi Wapang Lanu (IRS), Additional Commissioner, and Rohan Abraham, Chartered Accountant. They covered fundamental aspects of GST, its applicability, functionality, dispelling common misconceptions, the importance of proper accounting and bookkeeping, maintaining accurate records, and understanding Input Tax Credit.
The session also provided valuable insights into various aspects of GST, income tax, and related subjects. The workshop concluded with an engaging question and answer session, with 27 registered members actively participating, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
