The 60 elected members held an informal discussion on Urban Local Bodies (ULB) election this morning after the Assembly Session here at the NLA conference room in Kohima on Tuesday.
Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, speaking to media persons, maintained that the state government will not deviate from its stand and that the state government is prepared to conduct the ULB elections.
“The government, we are prepared to conduct ULB elections and that is why we have notified and beyond that, we cannot divulge anything,” he said.
With regard to the demand of the civil societies organisations and municipalities not to participate in the ULB election till the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 is amended, he said, “Regarding this, there are many confusions. So, even the department has given clarification on those points relating to tax on land and buildings”.
He also informed that the 60 elected members discussed to explain their position and that no decision was taken.
