The closing ceremony of the State level Pre Subroto cum Junior football tournament 2024 organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports and Nagaland Football Association (NFA) was held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on June 11 .
Special Guest Dy.CM TR Zeliang in his speech stated that the Government of Nagaland has been supporting in organizing the Subroto Team over the years and this Tournament was fully funded by the Government of Nagaland and is a part of the Sectoral Outlay under State Plan.
However, Zeliang mentioned, this is the first time that the Department of Youth Resources & Sports have organized District Level Tournament as well as the current State Level Pre-Subroto Tournament for which he congratulated the Department of Youth Resources & Sports for their valuable role and contribution in particular.
He also informed that three youngsters namely Lalminkai Thompson, Asa Ayemi and Nitoka Tamang had been selected to undergo Football Coaching in Germany. “We have high hopes on such young talented players who have made the State proud,” said Zeliang.
Highlighting the value of Sports in society, Zeliang said, “Sports play a very important role in the overall development of human lives. A good education system is not based only on development of the mind but is equally focussed on the development of the physical body.” Therefore, he urged the gathering to make Sports an integral part of their lives, which will prepare them to enter a new world of Sports once they move out of their District and their home State.
He also expressed hope that the talented Footballers will find their way to participate at the National level very soon.

U-15 (Boys): Chümoukedima defeated Peren with 1-0 and the third place was bagged by Wokha by defeating Kiphire with 2-0.
Girls -Under 17
Kohima defeated Noklak by 3-0,Chümoukedima stood the third place by defeating Zunheboto by 3-0.
