The State Level Youth Festival will be held on September 26 and 27 at the IG stadium, Kohima. This was announced by Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS) in an exclusive interview with Nagaland Tribune.
The event will feature competition in diverse forms such Folk song, Declamation, Folk dance, Science mela, Painting and Beat.
Youth from all the 16 districts will be participating in the Festival. The opening program will be held on September 26 which will witness competition on folk songs, declamation, folk dance and science mela.
“The best teams from the districts will be competing against each other under the theme “Disaster”. They will work on how to manage disaster by using innovative tradition and modern innovative technologies,” informed Sekhose. The theme will particularly center around discourse on landslides in Nagaland. Prizes will be collaborated and sponsored by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) worth around Rs. 40,000.

The second day of the State Level Youth Festival will witness painting competitions followed by a battle of the band at the RCEMPA Jotsoma.
“This year we are particularly targeting the high school and higher secondary school bands. The auditions has already been conducted and ten bands will be competing at the finale,” mentioned Sekhose.
Besides the celebration of skills of the younger demography in the State, the Director noted that, the Festival is a platform to identify talents and provide opportunity to the students to build themselves up for the future.
