State NMBA Committee gears up for Mass Pledge

The State-Level Committee Meeting of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Nagaland was held on August 6 at the office chamber of Limawabang Jamir, IAS, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. The meeting chaired by the Secretary was convened to deliberate on the upcoming Mass Pledge activity, directed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the NMBA campaign and effective implementation of National Action Plan on Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) under in the state.

The session began with a review of the previous meeting’s minutes, during which the concerned officers provided updates on the action taken report.

On the upcoming Mass Pledge activity, a Ministry-led initiative aimed at reinforcing public commitment to a drug-free society, the committee focused on ensuring that this year’s observance would be not just symbolic, but deeply impactful across Nagaland.

After thoughtful discussion, the committee agreed that the Mass Pledge would be held on August 13 as per the directive from the Ministry and would involve participation from schools, colleges, government offices, Police, NGOs and establishments throughout the state.

Secretary, Limawabang Jamir emphasized the importance of collective effort and assured that the directives would be circulated to all Heads of Departments, District Administration and relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and enthusiastic participation.

Launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is a nationwide mission to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle — one pledge at a time.
