DIMAPUR:
A district-wide mass social work took place across Dimapur on 25th October 2024, following a directive from the Nagaland state government, which was issued after a Cabinet meeting on 9th October 2024. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and improve public spaces throughout the district, with active participation from the District Administration, government employees, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC), Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), colony and ward chairmen, village council leaders, school and college students, various NGOs, and civil society organizations.
The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, acknowledged the efforts and contribution of all those involved including Heads of Departments (HODs), councilors of DMC and EDTC, colony chairmen, village council leaders, institutions, and businesses and volunteers who despite unfavorable weather condition worked together to clear the streets, public areas, and community spaces, demonstrating a commitment to making Dimapur cleaner.
Supervisory officers who oversaw the smooth conduct of the activities across different regions were as follows Zakabo V. Rotokha, Additional Deputy Commissioner (NCS), supervised the East Dimapur Town Council, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, Chief Executive Officer, and Vineikho Tetso, Revenue Officer, managed the DMC operations while Dimapur Sadar was led by Yanthungbemo Kikon, SDO (C) and Litsenthung Kikon, EAC, Dimapur.
CHUMUKEDIMA:
A large-scale social work initiative was carried out in Chumukedima on 25th October 2024 with active participation from the Deputy Commissioner (D.C.), Additional Deputy Commissioner (A.D.C.), various government departments, social organizations and local colonies. The event was aimed to improve public spaces and enhance community well-being.
The social work activities included cleaning of National highway, public areas, planting trees and raising awareness about cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Local volunteers, department officials, and social bodies joined hands to ensure the event’s success.
The D.C. lauded the efforts of all participants and emphasized the importance of community engagement in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He urged everyone to continue these efforts and work together for fostering a spirit of collective responsibility. He noted that Mass social work programs have become essential in promoting civic responsibility and maintaining public infrastructure in Chumukedima. He also said that the administration with the Local bodies are mostly focusing on the safety of travelling on national highway till medziphema during the upcoming Hornbill festival for which a special team has been sent. He thanked all the Departments and the local bodies for taking this mass social work seriously despite the inclement weather and also noted that this event will bring the challenge to improve the district in various ways.
The event involving various departments and colonies highlights the unity and dedication of the community toward a better future, he added.
MEDZIPHEMA:
In view of the preparation for Hornbill festival 2024, a mass social work was conducted at Medziphema sub-division on 25th October 2024, along with the rest of the state. The mass social work commenced from 7 am onwards.
During the mass social work all government offices and public participated actively cleaning the town and villages. Medziphema administration, councillors, village councils, ward sanitation committees and GB’s executed the social work and called for proper maintenance of sanitation, to remove all building materials stacked on the road sides, cleaning NH-29 route under Medziphema jurisdiction and to ensure proper sanitation along the highway.
Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, Zhaleo Rio IAS (RTD) along with his NDPP party workers also participated in the mass social work by cutting trees that obstructed the streets in Medziphema sub-division. People from different sections of the society came forward and joined the mass social work making it a great success.
PFUTSERO:
In view of the upcoming Statehood/Hornbill festival, a mass social work was conducted under Pfutsero Sub-Division on 25th October 2024 where all Government employees, wards, colonies, Village functionaries and general public took part in the cleanliness drive.
KIPHIRE:
A mass social work, supervised by the Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer NCS was held successfully with the participation of the citizens and Departments in Kiphire on 25th October 2024.
PHEK:
In compliance to directive of the government of Nagaland, the office of the Deputy Commissioner Phek, enforced a mass social work on 25th October 2024.
Government employees of various departments and general public from all colony/Ward of Phek Town, took part in the mass social work, beginning from 6:00 AM onwards.
Government office buildings compounds, vehicular roads and public footsteps, nullah/drainages in Phek Town were cleaned up.
SHAMATOR:
District Administration Shamator and Ward Officials took part in a state wide Mass Social work on 25th October 2024, the social work was conducted successfully in Shamator town with the active participation from all the Departments and citizens of the town.
NIULAND:
Mass social work was conducted in all the government offices, educational institutions, town and village areas under Niuland district on 25th October 2024.
JAKHAMA:
In preparation for the festive season, a large-scale social work initiative was carried out at Jakhama Sub-Division on 25th October 2024.The event, organized under the supervision of the SDO (Civil) Nockpai Konyak NCS and Vilopi, BDO Jakhama, was conducted in line with directives from higher authorities.
The community effort saw active participation from local residents, with various clean-up and maintenance activities taking place across key areas of the sub-division. The initiative aims to enhance public spaces and ensure a cleaner, more welcoming environment for the upcoming festive celebrations.
TIZIT:
Tizit sub-division also actively participated in the state wide mass social work called by the government of Nagaland on 25th October 2024.
Besides cleaning respective areas and jurisdiction by various institutions, offices, wards and residents, special attention was given to repairing of signboard, signages, lighting etc. To ensure proper conduct of the social work, ADC, Tizit also deputed DBs to all important areas and locations for inspection.
CHOZUBA:
Chozuba Sub-Division organised a mass social work on 25th October 2024 in view of the upcoming statehood day cum Hornbill Festival celebration.
During the social work clearing of pigsties discharging wastes, latrines, building materials that were stacked and obstructing highways were removed.
The heads of offices, village councils, GBs, VDBs along with Town Councillors mobilised the people and took part in their respective wards/ colonies and villages.
The social work was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr Diana Patton, NCS while Extra Assistant Commissioner Dr Chitu Nienu, NCS supervised the cleanliness drive.
CHESSORE:
Along with the rest of the state the citizens of Chessore town participated in the mass social work conducted on 25th October 2025. The Administration staff, different department office Staff and the D.E.F Chessore out post led by B.Lakhum O.C. and his jawans took part in the mass social work.
Kheangtsü Wung Colony of Chessore town came up with most number of volunteers and cleaned up drainage from Chessore -Huker main road.
TENING:
Tening subdivision, Peren successfully conducted mass social work on 25th October 2024. The initiative saw wide participation from all the government officials and villages under Tening area.
In Tening town the social work was carried out under the supervision of Town council Chairman & councillors while in village level the work was supervised by the village chairman.
PEREN:
District Administration Peren in compliance with the direction of the state government, organized a mass social work across the district on 25th October 2024.
In the District Headquarter, all the Heads of Offices along with their staff actively involved in clearing vegetations, foliage and drainages within their respective office premises and its surroundings.
At Jalukie town, the drive was carried out effectively with the active involvement of government departments, traders’ union, churches, schools & colleges and ward councillors & GBs.
Mass social work was also conducted successfully at Tening, Ahthibung and Peren Town with respective administrative heads supervising the work.
Meanwhile, villages across the district also participated in the mass social work with special emphasis on cleaning the highways, main roads and circular roads.
TUENSANG:
In pursuance to the Home Department notification Mass social work was Conducted at Tuensang Town on 25th October 2024. All the Departments from Tuensang, School Students and Colonies participated in clearing of drainage, garbage and disposal of waste in and around Tuensang Town.
LONGKHIM:
Mass Social Work was successfully conducted at Longkhim town under the supervision of Administration on 25th October 2024.
Social work was carried out in all the respective Government Offices,Private institutions and all wards cleaned up drainages alongside the roads.
BHANDARI:
The Bhandari Sub-division conducted mass social work on 25 October 2024 as per the directive from the home Department, Kohima, Nagaland.
Cleaning up Government offices and respective ward and colonies were undertaken at Bhandari town.
MON:
As directed by the Home Department, General Administration Branch-II, Government of Nagaland, a Mass Social work was conducted at Mon Town on 25th October 2024. All Head of Departments/Officers and public participated actively in the social work. Students of Class 9 -12, teachers and staffs of all the schools also carried out social work in and around their respective Schools.
ZUNHEBOTO:
In adherence with Government of Nagaland order, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali initiated a mass social work across Zunheboto town on 25th October, 2024.
The proposed social work was actively participated by all the citizens of Zunheboto town and subdivisions in the district. Government departments, GBs/Wards/colonies, Town Councillors and ward council members, educational institutions etc. from across the district also actively joined in the mass social work.
