Statistical Software & AI in Social Science Research workshop underway at Nagaland University

The Department of Economics, Nagaland University, commenced a three-day workshop on “Application of Statistical Software and AI in Social Science Research” on March 17, 2025, which will continue until March 19, 2025.

The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Patron, Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, and Patron, Prof. M.K. Sinha, Dean, School of Social Sciences. Prof. Patnaik addressed the workshop and highlighted the growing importance of statistical software tools in contemporary research and emphasized the integration of AI into academic studies. He commended the Department of Economics for successfully organizing the workshop and acknowledged its commitment to fostering research excellence.

The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Renbeni Kikon, Assistant Professor, Nagaland University and Organizing Secretary of the workshop. The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Y. Temjenzulu Jamir, Head of the Department of Economics, while Prof. T. Zarenthung Ezung delivered the Vote of Thanks. Prof. B. Kilangla Jamir is the Convenor of the Workshop

The first day of the workshop featured Dr. Saurabh Agarwal, Professor of Machine Learning & Data Analytics at HBTU Kanpur, Consultant & Trainer for IBM and UNESCO. He led an extensive session on the application of R software in data analysis, offering participants a comprehensive, hands-on training experience. His session focused on practical implementations of statistical techniques, equipping attendees with essential skills for data-driven research in social sciences.

The first day of the workshop witnessed participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students from across the departments of the university, fostering an interactive and collaborative learning environment.
