Students from GHSS Peren visits SAS, NU

A group of class 10 students led by their Course in-charge, from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), for Multi skill foundation course from Peren district visited School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema campus on August 29.

During their visit, the students explored various departments, museums, library and farms. At the AICRP Honeybee and pollinators, they were introduced to Indian Honeybee, European honeybee and Stingless bee along with some common pollinators.

Students of experiential learning, Sericulture Unit highlighted and showcased the rearing techniques of Eri silkworm its scope, limitations and market value. The production technologies of some crops under Instructional cum Research Farm were highlighted along with some farming techniques.

At the insect museum, Department of Entomology the students were showcased with different insect pest, beneficial insects etc. and the roles played by insects in the ecosystem. Students also visited the Plant Disease museum, Department of Plant Pathology where the students were introduced to various plant diseases commonly observed in locally grown crops.

Later, the students were taken to SAS, Museum followed by a visit to the SAS Library.

The Field trip ended with a photography session along with the Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dipak Sinha, SAS, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus.
