Students from St Xavier College, Jalukie, Peren, got the pleasure of meeting politician and author Shashi Tharoor while attending a cultural exchange programme conducted by Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous), Trivandrum on Wednesday.
The students were in the southern state to participate in the 8th Global Harmony Festival 2023, which was held at Marthoma Shrine, Azhikode, Kodungallur, Kerala, from 13–15 January.
The cultural troupe represented Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) and performed folk songs and dances at the festival.
After the meeting with the group, Tharoor tweeted that the students from Nagaland “regaled” him “with a song”. He also wrote that such programmes need to be encouraged “to expose students from different parts of India to our country’s diversity”.
Met a group of students from Nagaland who are at Mar Invanios College in Thiruvananthapuram for a week’s exchange programme. They also regaled me with a song. We need to do much more of this to expose students from different parts of India to our country’s diversity pic.twitter.com/zvf4JMvmxj
