The 3rd Annual Wipro Earthian Regional Awards and Green Exchange was held at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) auditorium in Kohima on June 7. The event was organized by the Wipro Earthian Nagaland Chapter, in collaboration with the Community
Educational Centre Society (CECS) and the District Education Office, Kohima. Schools from four districts of Nagaland participated in the program, which focused on promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students and educators.
Subonenba Longkumer, Director of CECS spoke about the importance of involving young people in environmental education. He emphasized that consistent learning and small steps at the school level can bring about long-term positive change in society.
Patricia Vizo, Senior SDEO, Kohima, welcomed the participants and appreciated the schools for their active involvement in the Wipro Earthian program. She also acknowledged the efforts of teachers who guided students through their projects.

During the Felicitation Ceremony, three school teams were awarded namely Vision Higher
Secondary School Dimapur, GHS Chandmari kohima and Rajeshwari Karuna School Tuli for their outstanding work in sustainability education. Each team briefly shared their experiences and key learning from the projects they had undertaken.
In his keynote address, Principal Director of the Department of School Education, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS highlighted the role of education in promoting environmental responsibility and encouraged schools to continue engaging students in practical learning that benefits both the environment and the community.
After the award presentation, the Environmental Sustainability Exhibit was inaugurated. Six schools showcased their project work through models, charts, and presentations. The exhibits reflected the students’ understanding of various environmental topics such as waste management, water conservation, and biodiversity.
The event saw participation from over 100 students and 32 teachers, providing a platform for interaction, learning and exchange of ideas between schools.
