Two days celebration of Sükrünye Festival of Chakhesang tribe began with a cultural programme at local ground, Phek on 14th January 2025. Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along graced the occasion as Cultural Guest of the day.
Addressing the program, Minister Imna Along strongly urged and appealed to the people of the district to come forward, and put efforts to maintain peace and unity among the people, and to live together and progress together for the betterment of the State as a whole.
He also expressed his appreciation towards the Central Government for the ongoing construction of vehicular roads (NHs) in the State, including Phek district, where he stressed on tax for development, and said that we should pay tax to the government for progress and development of our State.
As the cultural guest of the occasion, Imna Along extended appreciation to the Chakhesang community in particular and the Tenyimia in general for preserving our rich culture and traditions in a very special manner. He, however, stated that since we have accepted Christianity, we should worship our Saviour Christ Jesus and, in His name, we must put efforts to bring unity in the State besides our rich cultural heritage and practices.

Other highlights of the Cultural Day of the Sükrünye Festival included folk songs and dances from Bible Hill and Mission Compound Ward, competitions in folk song and Top Fight, Ululating and Push of War. A kind of traditional practice called RADEBO was lifted by John Tsulise Sangtam, Deputy Commissioner, Phek. Welcome address was delivered by Api Vadeo, President Phek Town Public Forum.
MLA and Leader of NPF Legislators, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu was the Sükrünye Host.
