The Sunbird Trust successfully concluded a scholarship distribution drive, providing Rs 1200 each to 1000 students across 26 government schools in Eastern Nagaland.
Supported by a major corporate donor, the initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS).
The six-member team, along with IDAN officials, traversed challenging terrains to reach the remotest villages in districts like Mon, ensuring the funds reached families in need. “This scholarship means everything,” said a parent from Tangnyu village, Mon district, whose daughter is in Class 5.
“It’ll help her studies. The Sunbird team even offered future support,” she said.

Aliasgar Huseini Janjali, CEO of Sunbird Trust, stated, “Such sponsorships give students from isolated regions a chance to dream big and build a brighter future.”

Founded in 2014, Sunbird Trust is a non-religious, apolitical NGO working in Northeast India’s conflict-affected areas. It promotes “Peace through Education” by building schools, providing child sponsorships, and fostering community livelihoods.
The initiative underscores the power of collective efforts to bridge gaps in educational access.
