Supongmeren raises alarm over ‘zero’ progress on Dimapur-Tizit Railway project

Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), S Supongmeren Jamir today drew the attention to the long-pending Dimapur-Tizit Railway line project in Nagaland, which was taken up by the Ministry of Railways (North East Region) in 2013-14.

Raising the matter under Rule 377 during the Parliament Session today, Jamir submitted a written representation urging the Ministry of Railways to take immediate action on the 257-kilometre project, initially taken up in 2013–14 under the North East Region railway development plan. The estimated cost of the project stands at a staggering Rs.4274 crores. He said even after more than a decade, the financial progress of the project remains at “zero”.

Jamir urged the Minister of Railways to take immediate steps and ensure the early implementation of the project.

Meanwhile, the Congress MP also took part in the INDIA bloc protest in Delhi against SIR (Special Investigation Report), expressing solidarity with the cause and with the people affected.
