On March 7, Longtili C Sangtam, Umpire, Kiphire District Cricket Association met with young Under-19 cricket team who are preparing for the upcoming G Rio Men’s U19 Inter District Tournament 2026–27.
Sangtam visited them during their practice session at the Public Ground Kiphire.
During the interaction, he encouraged the players to remain disciplined, respect the rules of the game, and follow the guidance of their senior who would be leading the team, reminded them that when they go to the tournament, they will not go as individuals but as representatives of Kiphire district.
He reminded them that their individuality should remain aside during the tournament because they would be carrying the image and pride of the whole district while competing with other teams. “Winning is another story, but discipline will always define who they are,” he said.
Citing the example of the New Zealand national cricket team, which is respected around the world for its discipline and sportsmanship, he encouraged the team to build the same reputation for Kiphire in cricket.
Reminding the players that rules are for everyone, he advised them to stay together as a team once they enter the tournament, unless there is an emergency.
Meanwhile, strictly advising them to avoid tobacco and maintain proper discipline throughout the tournament, he said they must go as a team and return as a team.
