The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU), has submitted a report to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Seyochung Town, to take immediate action in addressing the poor quality of road metalling between Sitimi and Seyochung HQ.
During the Union’s inspection of the ongoing road metalling work between Sitimi and Seyochung HQ on March 17, it highlighted various observations:
- Absence of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) Officials: Despite prior communication, no representatives from the BRO office were present duning its visit.
- Poor Work Quality: The metalling work lacked proper compaction and durability as per standard construction practices. There was no proper drainage system, leading to the risk of waterlogging and road deterioration over time.

- Lack of Drainage & Cross Slope.
The road did not follow IRC guidelines for cross slope, which is essential for water runoff and road longevity. No culverts, ditches, or drainage structures were properly installed.
In light of these serious concerns, the SVSU urged the competent authority to take necessary corrective measures to ensure the quality and sustainability of this project. “Proper drainage, compaction, and adherence to road construction standards must be prioritized. We request your kind intervention in addressing these issues with the concerned department and contractor at the earliest,” appealed the Union.
