Pungro Town Council, on Monday, organised Swachhata Hi Seva culmination day celebration at Public Ground, Pungro Town, Kiphire district under the theme ‘Garbage Free Pungro’. The main objective of the celebration was to disseminate information based on practical approach towards waste management and share good practices amongst the students and citizens of Pungro.
The celebration included wall painting competition on cleanliness and innovative waste management and practices for schools, and for wards competition includes cleanliness competition and innovative waste management and practices competition.

The cleanest school award was awarded to GMS Pungro Town and the best wall painting on waste management and practices was awarded to Christian School Pungro. The Shorih Ward of Pungro Town was awarded the Cleanest Ward in Pungro Town. All winners were awarded cash and certificates. The Innovative Waste Management and Practices was awarded to Mission Ward of Pungro Town.
Earlier in the program, the Key Note on ‘Swacchata Divas Celebration’ was delivered by Brand Ambassador Swachhata Hi Seva and Advisor Pungro Town Students’ Union, Throngso Yimchunger.
Yitachu Thur, NCS, EAC Pungro, talked about ‘Garbage Free India’ and the way forward for making safe and secure environment through innovative waste management and practices.
Shojiba, All Wards Chairman, conveyed a message on ‘Our waste, Our responsibility’.
The celebration witnessed participation from seven schools and ten wards in Pungro Town.
