Swachhta Pakhwada and Indian Swachhata League 2.0 events help in Phek, Tseminyu

Phek/ Tseminyu: ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight commences from 15th Sep – 2nd Oct begins with Indian Swachhata League 2.0 on 17th Sep 2023, Seva Divas

The Government Higher Secondary School in Chozuba successfully organized the Swachhta Pakhwada and Indian Swachhata League 2.0, along with the SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir event, under the flagship of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. DIPR informed that the formal program was officially inaugurated by Imokokla, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), at Vamuzo Memorial Hall on the 15 September 2023.

During the event, speeches on Swachhata Pakhwada were delivered by a student and a teacher from the school. A captivating drama performance was showcased, and participants also sang a song dedicated to Swachhata, marking the highlights of the program.

Earlier on 14 September, a coordination meeting was conducted by Tsenthungo E. Ngullie, the Administrator and Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Phek Town Council, in preparation for the upcoming Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Fortnight-long Cleanliness Drives and Indian Swachhata League 2.0.

Several key officials attended the meeting, including the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Phek, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Urban Development in Phek, the Principal of GHS Phek, and the Chairmen representing the eleven wards of Phek Town.

During the meeting, it was decided that the purposeful exercise of the Cleanliness Drive in Phek Town would be conducted on 16 September 2023. This cleanliness drive will encompass all eleven wards of Phek Town, with active participation expected from students, Scouts & Guides and others.

In Tseminyu, Dr. Tinojongshi, Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu inaugurated the Swachhata Pakhwada and Indian Swachhata League 2.0 at the Rengma Sports Association ground in Tseminyu on 15th September 2023.

The event was presided over by Longasen Lotha, the Administrator of Tseminyu Town Council, and attended by enthusiastic volunteers, students, and government officials. The program featured various activities including a theme song presentation, the administration of the Swachh Pledge, and community service.

As a run up to Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October, 2023, a day that the nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Dept. of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti are organizing the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight 15th September to 2nd October, 2023, in collaboration with other Ministries, to celebrate 9 years of Swachh Bharat Mission.

The backbone of the Mission has been jan andolan for swachhata. The theme for SHS 2023 is “Garbage Free India”. Events planned as part of the fortnight will serve as a build up to Swachhata Diwas 2023 and reaffirm the commitment of all to make India clean and garbage free.

The activities will include removal of garbage from all important spaces, clearing of legacy waste, repairing, painting, cleaning, and branding of all sanitation assets such as litter bins, public toilets, garbage points, waste transportation vehicles, and Material Recovery Facilities, saturating markets, public spaces, and tourist spots with SBM wall paintings and dustbins, organizing swachhata quizzes, plantation drives, swachhata pledges and swachhata runs etc.
