Symphony Academy of Music holds annual concert

The Symphony Academy of Music, recognized as the largest music institution in Nagaland with four prominent branches, held its much-anticipated annual concert on December 16 and 17, 2024. The two-day event, celebrated at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) Jotsoma, showcased the immense talent nurtured within the Academy.

The event, hosted by Naro Imchen, opened with a captivating solo performance by Wasenya, who delivered a heartfelt rendition of “Never Enough,” setting the tone for the spectacular program.

Highlights of the concert included a four-piano ensemble, performances by junior and senior choirs, and ensembles featuring drums, guitars, and violins. Three dynamic bands also graced the stage, and various solo and duet performance, bringing energy and excitement to the audience.

In addition to the performances, the academy took the opportunity to honor excellence among its students and staff. Theja from the Drum Department received an acknowledgment for outstanding performance, recognizing his exceptional dedication and skill.

Among the faculty, Zayie from the Guitar Department and Keneisezonuo from the Vocal Department were commended for their valuable contributions to the academy’s mission of excellence in music education. These awards were presented by the Director of Symphony Academy of Music Melekhoto Pucho.

The Employee of the Year award celebrated the hard work and dedication of a staff member whose efforts significantly enhanced the academy’s operations over the year.

Established as a cornerstone of music education in Nagaland, the Symphony Music Academy continues to inspire young musicians and enrich the state’s cultural heritage. The annual concert served not only as a showcase of the students’ talent but also as a testament to the academy’s commitment to fostering a vibrant musical community.

As the curtains closed on this year’s concert, attendees left with a renewed appreciation for the transformative power of music and the vital role Symphony Music Academy plays in shaping the next generation of musicians.
