T01 (Doyang) to Mangmetong Road Project dedication held; Advisor Yanthan calls it ‘dream project’ that spans 4 districts

Wokha: EE urges landowners to voluntarily donate their land, to look at larger picture

A dedication cum launching program for the construction of the T01 (Doyang) to Mangmetong Road, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) – a flagship program of the central government was held on 13th September 2023 at Sungro Town Community Hall.

The event took place in the presence of Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, who is also the MLA of the constituency. He highlighted that this is a 36-kilometer project valued at ₹46 crore, stressing its significance as it spans five districts and crosses key landmarks such as the Amur Falcon capital of the world and the Doyang Hydro Project.

Yanthan explained that the road is more than just a tool for convenience and connectivity and that it represents a dream project that will not only serve as a vital transportation link but also strengthen relationships and foster friendships, ultimately driving holistic development in the region.

Yanthan expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his support in making this dream project a reality. He also extended his thanks to Executive Engineer and PMGSY Kohima in-charge, Er. Imnameren Imchen and the department for their contributions.

Er. Imchen, also spoke at the event, and urged landowners to voluntarily donate their land for the project, as no compensation is provided under PMGSY. He called on the community to look at the bigger picture, stressing that this road will benefit everyone in the long term.

Earlier, the dedicatory prayer was led by Rev. Manglio Ngullie, Pastor of Pangti Baptist Church.

The program was chaired by Thechamo Ngullie, Chairman of the Sungro Range Council’s Union, and included a welcome note by the Chairperson. Short speeches were delivered by Abel P. Shohe, Proprietor of M/s. LPSS Infra, and representatives from the R & B Department, as well as village representatives from Mangmetong, Longkhum, Okotso, and Pangti.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Rakhomo Jami, Chairman of Pangti Village Council.
