The Taekwon-Do Association of Nagaland (TAN) proudly brought home Gold and Bronze medals at the recently concluded 39th National ITF Taekwon-Do Championship, held from 27th to 29th December 2024 in Goa. Michael Kevichüsa secured the gold medal for the State while Kagunchungliu Kamei secured the bronze medal.
Representing Nagaland, the six-member team displayed exceptional talent and dedication at the prestigious event. The team included:

- Kagunchungliu Kamei
- Paugayibe Disuang
- Mereh Doulo
- Michael Kevichüsa
Commenting on the performance of the team at the 39th National ITF Taekwon-Do Championship, Michael Kevichüsa, the State Head of TAN, remarked, “The students performed exceptionally well considering it was their first time competing at the national level.”
Master Narender Singh Rawat, Technical Advisor of the Taekwon-Do Association of India and recipient of the International Outstanding Instructor Award, earlier said, “Nagaland has the potential to even win at the World Championships.”
Looking ahead, Nagaland’s martial arts journey continues to gain momentum. Michael Kevichüsa will represent India at the 23rd ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships, scheduled for October 2025 in Italy. A seasoned martial artist, Michael has been competing and winning medals at the state, national, and international levels since the age of 13. He also represented India at the 10th Asian ITF Taekwon-Do Championships in August 2024.
The achievements at the 39th National Championship mark a significant milestone for TAN and underscore Nagaland’s growing prominence in the world of martial arts.
