Nagaland is eagerly anticipating two major events, The Voice of Nagaland and TaFMA Excelling Award. The Voice of Nagaland is an initiative by TaFMA (Task Force for Music & Arts) and IDAN with the aim of showcasing talents from all corners of Nagaland, while the award recognises outstanding artists in the field of music.

In a press conference held on Tuesday at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chairman of IDAN (Institute of Development of Arts and Culture), shared that TaFMA has formed partnerships with 21 different institutions and corporate houses. These collaborations have provided platforms for Naga artists to perform in foreign locations, including various resorts and hotels across the country. Notably, they have ongoing partnerships with six foreign embassies in India, including Israel, USA, UK, Italy, Columbia, and Latvia. These partnerships have created opportunities and benefited the youth of Nagaland, with musicians and artists from the state becoming ambassadors for the Naga people.

The efforts of the music task force in collaboration with various institutions and corporate houses have resulted in a new generation of Naga ambassadors who are putting Team Nagaland on the map, he said.

Abu Metha commended TaFMA for their proactive approach in utilizing networking tools to promote these collaborations. He further announced that The Voice of Nagaland is open to solo artists, duos, bands, vocal groups, choirs, and musicians from all genres and languages, including local dialects, Hindi, and Nagamese. The top prize for this event will be a Toyota car, and further details about other prizes will be announced later.

Additionally, the TaFMA Excelling Award aims to recognize and reward young individuals who are excelling in their respective fields at national and international levels. The ultimate winner of this award will also receive a car from the sponsor, Toyota.

Metha emphasized that TaFMA is also partnering with five festivals, both in India and abroad. They believe that culture, music, and art have no boundaries, and as a result, their state musicians are being given opportunities through TaFMA.

Furthermore, he expressed that the Hornbill Music Festival is not only India’s biggest music event, but it has also positioned Nagaland as a music capital both nationally and internationally. Last year, Nagaland garnered over 10 million social media interactions and witnessed over 1 lakh footfall.

He further mentioned that participants from the USA, Ireland, Colombia, and Israel will be taking part in the festival alongside top bands from Nagaland. Renowned bands and musicians from all around the world are seeking entry to come and perform at the festival, he added.

He praised the Hornbill Music Festival as one of the top events during the Hornbill festival, stating that it adds value to the overall significance of the festival.

While disclosing that Toyota will be collaborating with them for the Hornbill Music Festival in 2023. Metha expressed gratitude to Toyota for their continued sponsorship and support, mentioning that the company is providing two cars and cash worth approximately 50 lakhs. He commended Toyota for giving opportunities to the youth in mechanical engineering and their involvement in green and ecological initiatives. He said he considered Toyota’s sponsorship as a direct contribution to nation-building and hoped that other companies are inspired to come forward with similar opportunities and ideas and thanked the IDAN team for their efforts in making the event possible.

TaFMA director Theja Meru highlighted that the registration for the voice of Nagaland will start by next month and all the rules and regulations and updates will be uploaded on their website and social media.
