Doulo informed Trees for Wealth Movement (TfW) is a flagship program of The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) launched in November 2019. The TfW aspires to plant 3 billion fruit trees by 2050, with the audacious plan to plant 2 million fruit trees and 3 million non-Fruit Trees by 2025, 10 million non-fruit trees by 2030, 200 million fruit trees and 500 million non-fruit trees by 2035, 1 billion fruit trees and 2 billion non-fruit trees by 2050.

The tEA founder also informed that planting of 1 billion fruit trees will not be just limited in Northeastern region but will flow over to Northwest Myanmar, “because just across the border we have similar people, similar culture and similar topography inhabiting the sub Himalayan Mountains,” he added.

Doulo further stated, “unlike other parts of the country where the government owns land, here in Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, it is the people who own land therefore, if we incentivise individual farmers to plant trees, we hope that on their own they will begin to plan more trees and so we are catalytic we will be triggering this movement called planting one billion fruit trees”. He shared that the tEA have already planted seven lakh fruit trees inspite of two years pandemic that called for lockdown and two lakh non-fruit trees have been planted across Nagaland and Manipur.

The CEO highlighted that tEA introduced and promoted persimmon fruit in the state in 2014 and that there has been a craze for persimmon in the state since 2021. He viewed that the state will witness huge increase of persimmon fruits and said, the wild persimmon which has hairy cover prompted them to plant and promote en mass. Pointing the number of fruits which have wild sides like chest nut, avocado, apple and pears he said, “there are number of hybrid fruits that are already native to Nagaland so for us to envision to plant fruit trees as part of our environment campaign, I think is natural.”

Speaking at the conference tEA Operations Supervisor, Chunjanglu (Gracy) said, tEA was founded in the year 2000 at a very crucial time where entrepreneurship was not given much importance to create wealth, opportunities and to promote entrepreneurship and develop sustainable livelihoods in Nagaland and other Northeastern parts of India that includes Manipur, Assam, and even Indo Arunachal. She also informed that R2 is a part of Trees for Wealth (TfW) project which is an in-house project.

The TfW is a movement that is aligning tEA’s existing mission to promote entrepreneurship and livelihood development with Climate Action. The movement while positively impacting our environment will generate incomes, create local jobs, support ancillary industries and most importantly reverse urbanization by helping farmers thrive in their homeland, she stated.
