A Teachers’ Professional Development Program for primary school teachers teaching Mathematics and
Science was launched in Mokokchung on September 23 at Sangtemla Community Hall. The program was organized by Bharti Airtel Foundation in collaboration with the District Education Department, Mokokchung.
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, attended the program as the Chief Guest and officially launched the Teachers’ App. In his address, he emphasized that the App would strengthen and energize schools, engage teachers, students, and parents, and contribute to school transformation.
He commended Bharti Airtel Foundation for its 25 years of work in teacher training and skill enhancement and encouraged teachers to take full advantage of the opportunities offered. He also assured full support from the district administration for the success of the initiative in the district.
The program was chaired by Alila, Coordinator, EBRC Kobulong. Hammed introduced Bharti Airtel
Foundation and highlighted its collaboration with the Department of School Education, Nagaland (DSEN), in launching TheTeacherApp. He explained that the initiative focuses on improving pedagogical skills, transforming classroom practices, and creating engaging learning environments in schools.
According to the details shared, TheTeacherApp provides teachers with high-quality, easy-to-use content across multiple domains including language, leadership, pedagogy, social sciences, co-scholastic areas, and other academic and co-curricular fields. The program combines self-paced online courses and interactive webinars aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), and the content is research- backed and field-tested.

Teachers will undergo training in a phased manner, and on successful completion, will receive a joint Program Completion Certificate from DSEN and Bharti Airtel Foundation. The first phase will cover teachers in Mokokchung district, with long-term plans to scale the initiative across Nagaland for consistent teacher empowerment and improved student outcomes.
In her address, District Education Officer, Sentinenla, urged teachers to register on the App and complete the training despite their busy schedules, stressing its importance in enhancing students’ learning outcomes.
The Bharti Airtel Foundation, established in 2000 as the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, has impacted over six million lives in the last 25 years through its education initiatives such as Satya Bharti Schools, Quality Support Programs in Government Schools, Higher Education, and Scholarship programs.
TheTeacherApp is its flagship initiative dedicated to teacher development, particularly for underserved communities.
