ZUNHEBOTO: Teachers responsible for building and moulding students’ lives
Along with the rest of the nation, Zunheboto District celebrated 63rd Teachers’ Day, on 5th September at Town Hall, Zunheboto, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher, scholar, teacher, and politician, the first Vice President and second President of Independent India, who dedicated his work towards education, which made his birthday a significant day in the history of India and popularly celebrated as Teachers’ Day all over the country.
During the celebration four teachers were honoured with prestigious Teachers’ Award, for their dedicated services towards the field of education. Awardees of the day were, GT, GHSS Satakha, M Samuel Sema, GT, GMS Surumi, Hewoto, UGHT Sovishe Memorial GHS, Nguvili and GT, Woodland HSS, Avitoli A Ayemi.
Speaking at the programme as the Guest Speaker, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS), recalled that Dr. Radhakrishnan was also the first Ambassador of Independent India to Soviet Union
He further stated that, the responsibility of a teacher is immense, where teacher not only performs its regular job but also are responsible for building and moulding the students’ lives and gradually contribute in the nation building, and said teachers are the backbone of the nation. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the teachers by exhorting that a teacher’s job is a noble service and one should understand the nobility of it and execute their assignments of a responsible teacher with utmost sincerity. He concluded by congratulating the awardees and urged them to continue to fulfil the dreams of students by continuing their duties with dedication and sincerity.
TSEMINYU: Teachers are backbone of the society
Combined Tseminyu District Teacher’s Day celebration cum Teacher’s Award 2024 was held on 5th September 2024 at Baptist Higher Secondary School’s Auditorium, Tseminyu with SDO (civil), Tsidi as the special guest. On the occasion, he thanked all the Teachers for their tireless efforts in imparting knowledge and shaping the future of the students, and added that a pen can change the world.
Speaking on the significance of Teachers Day, Kegwayhun Tep said the teachers are undoubtedly the backbone of the society and played a big role in building the character of students.
Teachers Award & Citation 2024 was awarded to Hitilo Kath, G.T (Science) GHSS, Tseminyu. Welcome address was proposed by Hechulo Semy, principal GHSS, Tseminyu while words of gratitude was delivered by K. Munenle Tep AHM, Government High School, Tseminyu. The highlights of the program were special songs performed by DBS Tseminyu, group song by GHSS Tseminyu and tribute to my teachers’ miracle by Khenlo G. Seb and Nyizanih Apon. Akenyu and Aninkelo Kent were the comperes the programme.
BHANDARI: Teachers prepare students to become responsible leaders of the future
The SDEO Bhandari organized the combined Teacher’s Day Celebration under Bhandari sub-division on 5th of August 2024 at Public Ground, Bhandari.
Speaking as Special Guest, MLA & Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon lauded the teachers for their pro-active role in shaping and moulding the children to be resourceful individuals and to prepare them to be responsible leaders of the future.
He called on the teachers to live up to the noble profession and to take pride and honour for the crucial role they play in shaping the society. The MLA also encouraged both teachers and parents to understand that students, who are consider stakeholders of the future, are facing rapid changes in all aspect of life including the educational system.
Kikon asserted that to achieve our set goals in the field of education and to lead our children to the path of success, teachers, students and parents, should work and strive collectively. He also emphasised on the need to motivate the students to think critically, to think bigger and be inquisitive in these changing times when method of imparting education is seeing a paradigm shift.
During the celebration, SDEO, Bhandari submitted a presentation to the special guest requesting for repair work of the office building of the SDEO, Bhandari and construction of one lodging house for teachers.
The representation also stated that a number of schools and office establishments under Bhandari are under staffed and requested MLA Kikon for deployment of adequate number of staff.
KIPHIRE: Teaching is most important profession
In Kiphire, Teachers Day was organised by DEO Office, Kiphire held with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Longdiba L. Sangtam, (NCS) as Special Guest at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, on 5th September 2024.
In his speech, the ADC thanked the SDEO for inviting him to be a part of the occasion and said, every year we celebrate this day to honor and acknowledge the service rendered by the Teachers. He also emphasis the important profession of the teachers, and the role that they play to shaped our children. He also urged the teachers to influence the students through their personal life.

Lumtipa T. Sangtam and Apila Gloria moderated the program. The highlights of the program were Prelude by Trinity School, Kiphire; Invocation by Rev. Imdangmeren: Welcome address by Rentsamo Kikon, Sr. S DEO Kiphire; Special song was presented by Saramati View Modern School; significance of the day was delivered by Dekhingla, GHSS Kiphire; Speech on behalf of District Teachers Awardees by C. Omega Sema, PGT, GHSS Pungro. Merit students Award in HSLC from Kiphire District was awarded to Tainyiu of Loyola Hr. Sec. School Kiphire.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Lisecho, president ANGPTA, Kiphire Unit.
GMS NZAU, TENING: Teachers perform yeoman service
Government Middle School Nzau, Tening, Peren, celebrated Teacher’s Day cum farewell program for outgoing teacher Sizanpi on 5th September 2024.
On this special day, Head Teacher, Thiulengsipi extended gratitude to the teachers for the yeoman service imparted diligently to the students’ community. He lauded the teachers for all the sacrifices made in moulding and shaping the life of younger generation. Notably, he also thanked the outgoing teacher for being not only a guide to students but also a mentor to the fellow colleagues as well.
Sizanpi, the outgoing teacher, in his speech navigated the old memories he had with all the teachers and students and further encouraged to carry forward the same spirit of oneness in educating the young minds.
The program began with a prayer pronounced by Alungpi, speech on behalf of School was delivered by Thiulengpi, Head Teacher. A melodious music was presented by Assistant Teacher Peramsidinbo, while choreography was performed by pre-primary and upper section Students, and Kedalakbo delivered the vote of thanks.
The event was attended by parents and village elders alongside with teachers and student community.
GHSS AHTHIBUNG: Tribute to teachers for shaping future and fostering learning
Government Higher Secondary School, Ahthibung under Peren District celebrated Teacher’s Day with great enthusiasm on 5th September 2024.
The event featured heartfelt speeches from students and faculties, expressing gratitude and admiration for the teachers’ dedication and hard work. Cultural performances and special awards were presented to the teachers highlighting the positive impact educators have on their students.
The celebration was a meaningful tribute to the role of teachers in shaping the future and fostering learning.
DIMAPUR: Teachers inspire and guide students through challenges, nurturing their growth and success
The Department of School Education, Dimapur District, and All Nagaland Private Schools Association Dimapur Unit organized a grand Common Teachers’ Day celebration on 5th September 2024 at the Bethesda Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Walford, Dimapur.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, who graced the occasion as the special guest, expressed his appreciation and thanked the District Education Officer (DEO) and All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA) Dimapur unit for organizing a program to honour teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. He extended heartfelt wishes to all teachers, acknowledging their hard work and dedication in shaping the lives of students.
He specially thanked institutions and teachers who have made provisions for children with special needs, ensuring they receive equal opportunities and are cared for with dedication and compassion. Chang also highlighted the invaluable contributions of teachers, noting that they not only impart knowledge but also inspire and guide students through challenges, nurturing their growth and success.
Reflecting on the essential role teachers play, the DC referred to them as the architects of society, shaping the minds and futures of the next generation. He concluded his speech with a quote from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: “A good teacher is like a candle—it consumes itself to light the way for others.”
Four distinguished teachers—Martha Angami of GHSS Dimapur, Shikat Shohe of PM SHRI GHS Burma Camp, Imnajungla of Little Star Higher Secondary School, and Limanaro of the Department of School Education, Dimapur District. An Ode to teachers was presented by students of Government Hr. Sec. School, Purana Bazar, and a special song by PM SHRI GHS, Thahekhu.
The program was chaired by Susie Ngullie, Trainer of Teachers (ToT) and began with an opening prayer by Esther Murry, Administrator of Bethesda Hr. Sec. School, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Jevika Kiba, Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Dimapur.
The celebration was attended by teachers and students from various schools in Dimapur, representatives from District administration and DPRO office, Dimapur.
