The Team Tepenjem Women’s Basketball Team from Mokokchung District secured the 1st Runners-Up position at the 7th Edition of the Vision Trinity Women’s Basketball Tournament, held on October 1 and 2 in Kohima, Nagaland.
Led by Head Coach Thejangulie Mekro, Assistant Coach Alirenba Aier, and Manager Moasunep Longkumer, Team Tepenjem displayed remarkable teamwork, discipline, and consistency throughout the competition.
The two-day tournament featured eight participating teams from across Nagaland, all vying for the top honours. Team Tepenjem topped their pool with strong performances, advancing confidently through the knockout stage to reach the championship match.
In the final, Team Tepenjem faced a formidable Team Navi in what proved to be a competitive and spirited encounter. Despite their determined effort, Team Tepenjem narrowly missed the title, falling short with a final score of 14–24, and concluded the tournament as 1st Runners-Up.

Acknowledging the team’s success, the management expressed heartfelt gratitude to their sponsors and well-wishers, noting that “the journey and achievements of Team Tepenjem would not have been possible without the constant support and encouragement from individuals and organizations who continue to invest in women’s sports.”
The Vision Trinity Women’s Basketball Tournament continues to play a vital role in promoting women’s empowerment through sports, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, shape their sportsmanship, and team commitments.
Women’s basketball in Mokokchung District has also been steadily growing, with some increase in participation, improved training from experience Players and coaches, and community support contributing to its development.
