At the ongoing MDFA 2023 tournament in Mokokchung today, Telongjem FC and Konyak Students Union Mokokchung (KSUM) showcased their team spirit by securing great victories on Day 6.

In the first match of the day, defending champions Telongjem FC left no room for doubt as they thrashed 16 United Brothers with an impressive 7-0 scoreline. Haotensen Kigpen (J/No. 17) of Telongjem FC set the score with an early lead in the 27th minute, and he did not stop there, adding two more goals at the 57th and 76th minutes. H. Robinson Kongsai (J/No.15) also made his presence felt with two goals in the 31st and 42nd minutes, while Kamguomang Haokip (J/No.13) and Kevisanyu (J/No. 12) each contributed one goal, in the 70th and 90+1 minute, respectively. This victory marked Telongjem FC’s second win in the MDFA tournament, amassing an impressive 10 goals in just two matches.

In the second match of the day, KSUM continued their winning streak, this time against Legendary Yeomanly Misfits, with a convincing 6-1 victory. Phillimon (J/No. 10) of KSUM scored the opening goal in the 8th minute, setting the pace for his team. While Bendangwapang (J/No. 8) of Legendary Yeomanly Misfits briefly equalized with a goal in the 29th minute, KSUM quickly took control. David (J/No.8) was the star of the match, finding the net four times in the 34th, 63rd, 87th, and 90+3 minutes.

Kapzeit from the KSUM team also contributed with a goal in the 57th minute. KSUM’s remarkable performance secured them their second consecutive win in the tournament, and they’ve now scored a total of 10 goals in the ongoing MDFA 2023 tournament.

Looking ahead, Tuesday’s matches will witness Moanungsang MSM taking on Brotherhood in the first match and Araka United facing off against NU Lumami in the second match.
